The Campaign
Do you recall your teachers helping you learn cursive handwriting? Do you have a letter from a loved one kept safely in a drawer? Still spend time figuring out the prescription from a doctor? Can handwriting correctly reflect someone's personality or state of mind?
It was almost exquisite - exchange of handwritten letters between political leaders, poets, authors; every word was real; permanent. History was studied in the light of these meaningful correspondences.
Letters between loved ones felt special - Some words striked out; an ink stain at a corner; words smudged from a tear drop. This is all we have lost in times of typing and texting. We are so connected; yet so far from each other. We tweet and post all day; yet don't find the time to say things that matter.
To reminisce the lost art of handwritten letters and notes, we compiled handwritten letters from celebrities and significant individuals around us as a way for us to read their ideas, understand them from their handwriting, and get an insight into how they think. We encouraged them to write in a local language to help people acknowledge how language makes an important part of heritage. The letters will be displayed at an exhibition on April 5, 2015 at Minerva.
